Request to complete Pancheshwar Project’s DPR soon
Minister Khadka's office confirmed that the discussion was aimed at fostering closer cooperation between the two countries on these matters.
KATHMANDU: Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation Minister Deepak Khadka, currently on a visit to India, held a meeting with Indian Minister of Jal Shakti (Water Resources) CR Patil today at the Ministry of Jal Shakti in New Delhi.
During the meeting, the two ministers discussed a range of issues of mutual interest, including expediting the implementation of the Pancheshwar Multi-Purpose Project, flood control measures, human resource development, and other shared concerns.
Minister Khadka’s office confirmed that the discussion was aimed at fostering closer cooperation between the two countries on these matters.
Minister Khadka also requested the swift finalization of the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the Pancheshwar project and urged the timely convening of a joint meeting between Nepal and India regarding flood and disaster management.
Furthermore, he expressed gratitude to the Indian government for the completion of the canal construction from Tanakpur to the Nepal-India border.
In response, Minister Patil assured a positive commitment to expedite the finalization of the DPR for Pancheshwar.
The meeting was also attended by representatives from the Nepali Embassy in New Delhi.
