KATHMANDU: In Rautahat’s western northern region of Fatuwa-Bijaypur, a woman lost her life following an attack by a wild elephant.
The tragic incident occurred when the elephant attacked the woman as she slept inside her home, while her husband managed to escape to safety.
According to local resident Ajay Timalsina, the 70-year-old woman, Patali Tamang, was attacked early Friday morning in her own home in Butwa Rangi village of Fatuwa Bijaypur-11.
The elephant completely destroyed the victim’s house.
Inspector Indramani Adhikari, Chief of the Area Police Office in Bijaypur, confirmed the incident, stating that the husband had narrowly escaped as the wild elephant attacked their home.
The Nepal Police, Division Forest Office Chandragahapur, and Armed Base Camp Bijaypur have arrived at the scene, and further investigation is underway, according to authorities.
