Jumla exports 9,400 metric tonnes of Apples valued at Rs 614.1 million

KATHMANDU: The district of Jumla reported a total apple production of 20,511 metric tonnes this year, cultivated across 4,250 hectares of land.

Of the total production, nearly 9,400 metric tonnes were exported by local farmers and suppliers.

According to the Agriculture Development Office in Jumla, all eight local administrative levels contributed to this supply, generating apple sales worth Rs 614.1 million.

Balakram Devkota, the chief of the Agriculture Development Office, stated that the apples were transported to other districts via air and road.

Specifically, 74 metric tonnes of apples were flown to other cities, while the remaining supply reached its destinations by road.

In total, 837 traders were involved in the distribution process.

On average, farmers sold their apples at a rate of Rs 60 per kilogram, noted Devkota.
