24 absconding defendants arrested

KATHMANDU: Police have arrested 24 defendants who had been absconding in various cases.

These defendants, who had been on the run since the incidents, were caught in their hometowns during the Tihar festival, according to Superintendent of Police (SP) Jitendra Kumar Basnet.
Among those arrested are defendants charged with offenses like theft, financial disputes, assault, fraud, and drug-related crimes.
SP Basnet further stated that some of the arrested defendants were also facing pending sentences, ranging from fines to imprisonment of up to seven days.
Additionally, two individuals were detained from Sakada Road, Rajbiraj Municipality-6, with textiles worth Rs 309,695 that were smuggled without customs clearance.
The arrested individuals are identified as 26-year-old Chunchun Yadav from Rupani Rural Municipality-5 and 28-year-old Sanjay Sah from Rajgadh Rural Municipality-2.
