Police officer arrested for rape commits suicide

KATHMANDU: An armed police officer, Reven Pachbhaiya Magar, has reportedly committed suicide while in custody in Dang.

He was found hanging in the toilet of the Ghorahi police station.

Magar was arrested a few days prior on charges of raping a minor in Bhaluwang.

According to Superintendent of Police Arjun Timalsena, he was discovered in the toilet on Monday morning.

Preliminary investigations suggest that Magar admitted to the allegations during police questioning.

This incident has raised serious concerns about security measures in police custody, and further investigations are underway to ascertain the circumstances surrounding his death.
