Afghanistan wins Emerging Teams Asia Cup

KATHMANDU: Afghanistan claimed the Emerging Teams Asia Cup title for the first time, defeating Sri Lanka by 7 wickets.

The final match, held on Saturday in Oman, saw Afghanistan chase down Sri Lanka’s target of 134 runs in 18.1 overs with just 3 wickets lost.

Sri Lanka, batting first, posted a score of 133 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 20 overs.

Afghanistan’s solid performance led them to clinch the championship in a tournament that featured various ‘A’ teams.
