Bangladesh defeats Bhutan 7-1 to secure spot in SAFF Women’s Championship 2024 final

KATHMANDU: Bangladesh has reached the finals of the SAFF Women’s Championship 2024, currently underway in Nepal.

In the first semifinal held at Dasarath Stadium in Tripureshwar on Sunday, Bangladesh defeated Bhutan with a commanding score of 7-1, marking their second appearance in the final.

In their previous final appearance in 2016, Bangladesh lost to India. However, they claimed the title in 2022 in Kathmandu, defeating Nepal.

Bangladesh will face the winner of the second semifinal, which will be played between Nepal and India.

This match is scheduled to take place today at 6:30 PM.

The standout performance came from Tohura Khatun, who scored a hat-trick. In the first half, both Tohura and captain Sabina Khatun scored two goals each, while Ritu Purna Chakma added another.

Tohura completed her hat-trick with another goal in the second half. Bhutan managed to score one goal in the first half, with forward Deki Lajom finding the net in the 41st minute.
