Protests in Kathmandu supporting Lamichhane amid cooperative fraud arrest (photos)

KATHMANDU: Protests have commenced in Kathmandu in support of Rabi Lamichhane, the Chair of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), who has been arrested in a cooperative fraud case.

The RSP has shifted its focus from a previously planned protest in Pokhara to organizing demonstrations in Kathmandu.

Today, RSP supporters, including MPs and party leaders, are gathering at Maitighar in the capital to voice their support.

After the protest in Pokhara did not gain traction, the party decided to change its strategy and initiate demonstrations in Kathmandu starting today.

Lamichhane is currently under investigation for charges related to cooperative fraud, organized crime, and asset laundering, with authorities extending the investigation period.
