No cetamol shortage: Nepal Drugs Limited
The company’s Managing Director, Kailash Kumar Paneru, assured that there is no shortage of cetamol, with its production ongoing as usual.
KATHMANDU: Nepal Drugs Limited (NDL) has clarified that reports of a cetamol shortage in the market are merely rumors.
The company’s Managing Director, Kailash Kumar Paneru, assured that there is no shortage of cetamol, with its production ongoing as usual.
“We are producing continuously, operating two shifts daily. Alongside paracetamol, we are also manufacturing Jeevanjal and other essential medicines,” Paneru stated.
According to him, around 300,000 cetamol tablets are being produced every day.
“Following reports during the dengue outbreak that cetamol was unavailable, we issued a notice. We have supplied as per demand, and the purchase-to-supply ratio is balanced,” he added.
After receiving complaints about a cetamol shortage through various channels, NDL released an official notice on Thursday addressing the matter.
The notice further mentions that NDL has been supplying the necessary quantity of cetamol to its stockists, government hospitals, and health supply management bodies across all levels of government.
To ensure easy access to paracetamol amidst rising dengue cases, NDL has set up a counter at its sales branch in Babarmahal, Kathmandu, where the general public can purchase cetamol as needed.
This counter operates from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.
