KATHMANDU: During a press meet organized by the Morang chapter of the Nepal Press Union, central member of the Nepali Congress, Dr. Shekhar Koirala, emphasized the need for the current government to accelerate development efforts.

Koirala expressed concern over the limited time available for the government to address public interests and called for a heightened focus on development.
He criticized some major political parties for seemingly resisting the strengthening of provincial structures, asserting that federalism is essential for the overall development of the country.
He stressed the importance of empowering states by granting them more rights to reinforce federalism.
He also clarified that the issue of party fragmentation is not a priority for the government and expressed the need for a cohesive foreign policy for Nepal.
