Writ on land dispute received by UML under judge Subedi’s bench
A hearing has been scheduled today in the single bench of Justice Nahakul Subedi on a writ petition filed by lawyer Gyan Bahadur Basnet.
KATHMANDU: A dispute has arisen over the land donated by controversial businessman Meen Bahadur Gurung for the central office of the CPN (UML).
A hearing has been scheduled today in the single bench of Justice Nahakul Subedi on a writ petition filed by lawyer Gyan Bahadur Basnet.
In October, Gurung donated a plot of land measuring 10 ropanis and 14 annas in Kirtipur, where Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Gurung’s family jointly laid the foundation stone for a building.
Lawyer Basnet has filed the writ in the Supreme Court, labeling this action as corrupt.
The writ claims that it is unacceptable for someone in a high executive position to accept such a significant donation from a controversial businessman.
Previously, the registrar of the Supreme Court had dismissed the writ, but the bench overturned that order, allowing the writ to be registered.
