KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane and former DIG Chhabilal Joshi, who were arrested in connection with the Surya Darshan Cooperative case in Pokhara, are being presented at the Kaski District Court.

Former media executives of Gorkha Media, Lamichhane and Joshi, are being taken to the court today for an extension of their remand.

Since Lamichhane’s statement has not been completed, the police and the public prosecutor’s office are preparing to request additional time to keep him in custody for further investigation.

District Attorney Kamala Kafle informed that Lamichhane’s statement remained incomplete as of Wednesday. She mentioned that the ongoing investigation, which includes collecting evidence and documents, is the primary focus, with the statement-taking being a secondary priority.

Chhabilal Joshi was arrested on Sept 22 and taken to Pokhara, while Rabi Lamichhane was arrested in Kathmandu last Friday and transported to Pokhara overnight.

Lila Pachaai, who was arrested on Sept 29 on charges of embezzling funds from the Surya Darshan Cooperative, will also be presented in court for a remand extension on Thursday.

Lamichhane’s statement, recorded at the public prosecutor’s office on Wednesday, had been prolonged.

Starting at 2:30 p.m., the statement-taking process was criticized by Lamichhane, who expressed dissatisfaction over what he described as unnecessary delays.
