Gorkhapatra launches publications in Ranatharu language, Minister Gurung lauds its role for conserving languages of nation
The Minister who also serves as the Government Spokesperson said the protection and promotion of the languages will also contribute significantly to the literary area of the relevant languages.
KATHMANDU: Minister for Communication and Information Technology, Prithvi Subba Gurung, has said the role of Gorkhapatra, the oldest national daily, is significant in conserving and developing the languages of the nation.
Launching the Gorkhapatra’s language page of the Ranatharu amidst a programme at the Gorkhapatra Sansthan (Corporation) today, the Minister who also serves as the Government Spokesperson said the protection and promotion of the languages will also contribute significantly to the literary area of the relevant languages.
He underlined the need to increase the quality of publications of the Gorkhapatra Sansthan, making them more competitive. The Minister instructed the Sansthan office-bearers to increase the effectiveness of the digital version of the Gorkhapatra.
He also instructed them to enhance the quality of Gorkhapatra’s content including its international content, opinion page and political and other issues, presenting them as per the need of time.
Stating that Sansthan’s publications represent the government, he stressed that that’s why its deliberations should be balanced, credible and quality.
With the publication of the Ranatharu language page under its ‘multi-language page’ titled Naya Nepal (New Nepal), the Gorkhapatra presents its materials in 44 languages. The entire PDF copies of the Daily are available online.
The publication of the multi-language page within the Gokhapatra commenced on Oct 18, 2007.
On the occasion, Gorkhapatra Sansthan’s Executive Chair Vishnu Prasad Subedi said the Naya Nepal page is the pride of the Gorkhapatra and its publications work as tools to connect the citizens with the government and the State.
Such works have significantly contributed to the linguistic and literary development and the implementation of inclusion.
Sansthan’s General Manager Lal Bahadur Airee said it has developed clear standards for adding the linguistic pages in the Gorkhapatra.
Naya Nepal’s Department Chief Bibekananda Mishra appraised the gathering of language pages within the Gorkhapatra.
