KATHMANDU: Rabi Lamichhane, the President of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), who was arrested for investigating cooperative fraud and organized crime, has accused former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli of being the most corrupt individual in the country.

Speaking to reporters during a court appearance for an extension of his remand at the Kaski District Court on Sunday, Lamichhane made the allegation.

He stated that if a similar investigation were conducted against Oli, lasting a year and a half like his own, it would reveal that KP Oli is the most corrupt person in Nepal. He described Oli’s premiership as a misfortune for the country.

Lamichhane called for a nationwide movement against the government, asserting that the country will suffer greatly as long as Oli remains in power. He claimed that such crimes will continue under Oli’s regime.

He also asserted that he has been falsely accused in a fabricated case and expressed confidence that the court would ultimately deliver justice.

Lamichhane was arrested on Friday by the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of the police on charges of embezzling cooperative funds.
