KATHMANDU: Activists of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) have defied the imposed prohibitory order in Kaski district, staging demonstrations on Sunday.

The district administration had earlier issued a notification declaring certain areas, including Sahid Chowk and Gaighrapatan in Pokhara, as prohibited zones.

During the protests, clashes occurred between the demonstrators and police.

The RSP leaders and supporters rallied against the arrest of party President Rabi Lamichhane, raising slogans and expressing their discontent.

The situation escalated into a tense standoff as activists entered the restricted areas to voice their opposition.

The unrest follows the arrest of Lamichhane on Friday evening by the police, who are investigating allegations of financial misconduct involving the Surya Darshan Savings and Credit Cooperative in Pokhara.

This incident has ignited outrage among the party’s leaders and supporters, leading to heightened tensions in the region.
