Mechi–Mahakali rescue mission: 44 rescued in Koshi State

KATHMANDU: Under the theme “No one should have to sleep on the streets this festive season,” a joint initiative by the Human Service Ashram and the Ani Choying Drolma Foundation successfully rescued 44 individuals from the Koshi State.

The rescue mission, conducted as part of the Mechi–Mahakali National Rescue Campaign, included 35 men and nine women.

According to Ramji Adhikari, the Chair of the Human Service Ashram, 16 individuals were rescued from various parts of Udayapur on Thursday.

These included eight men and eight women, all of whom were taken to the Ashram’s Biratnagar branch on the same day.

The rescue operation, which began on Oct 14, saw the rescue of 12 people from Jhapa on the first day, four from Morang on the second day, and another 12 from Sunsari on the third day.

The rescue team, comprising 47 members including singer Ani Choying Dolma and Adhikari, continues to actively assist those in need.

The rescue mission, which lasted 32 days and aimed at helping the most vulnerable individuals in the region, is set to conclude on Oct 12.
