Israel confirms Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar killed in Gaza operation

KATHMANDU: Yahya Sinwar, a top leader of Hamas, has been killed in an Israeli military operation in Gaza, Israel confirmed last night.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also verified the death of Sinwar, according to reports.

The confirmation of Sinwar’s death came through fingerprint and DNA tests conducted by Israeli authorities.

There had been speculation about whether Sinwar had been killed, but the tests have provided conclusive proof.

Sinwar was identified as the mastermind behind the Oct 7 attack. Despite being Hamas’ political leader, he had been operating from tunnels in the Gaza region.

Israel had made several attempts to eliminate him in the past.

As of now, there has been no official statement from Hamas regarding Sinwar’s death.
