20 dead after consuming toxic liquor in Bihar, India

KATHMANDU: At least 20 people have died after consuming toxic liquor in the northern Indian state of Bihar.

According to Siwan district’s Superintendent of Police, Amitesh Kumar, the initial investigation revealed that the deaths were caused by consuming poisonous alcohol.

Chapra’s police officer, Kumar Ashish, stated that a special investigation team has been formed to further investigate the incident.

He also mentioned that three people have been arrested in connection with the incident, and cases have been registered against eight others.

A relative of one of the deceased stated that the health of their family member deteriorated after consuming toxic alcohol on Oct 15.

Another relative of a victim mentioned that after consuming the toxic alcohol on Oct 15, their health worsened on Wednesday evening, leading them to be hospitalized.
