Manakamana Cable Car closed for 3-days starting today
KATHMANDU: The Manakamana Cable Car has been shut down for three days starting today for maintenance work.
It will remain closed from Oct 15 (Ashoj 29) to Oct 17 (Kartik 1) for both maintenance and shortening the cable wires, according to Ujjwal Sherchan, the Deputy Manager of Manakamana Darshan Pvt. Ltd.
He mentioned that the cable car services will resume regularly from Oct 18 (Kartik 2).
The cable car was also closed for two days during the recent festivals—on Oct 12 (Ashoj 26) for Vijaya Dashami and on Oct 13 (Ashoj 27) for Ekadashi.
The Manakamana Cable Car, which takes pilgrims to the famous Manakamana Temple in Sahid Lakhan Rural Municipality of Gorkha, has been in operation since Nov 23, 1998 (Mangsir 8, 2055 BS) for the convenience of devotees.
The base station or ‘bottom station’ of the cable car is located at Cheres in Ichchhakamana Rural Municipality-4, Chitwan.
