Floods & lndslides cause Rs 730 million damage to public transport

KATHMANDU: Continuous rainfall across the country on Sept 27 and 28 has caused damage worth approximately Rs 730 million to the public transportation sector.

Among the hardest hit, Western Nepal Transport Bus Company faced losses of Rs 118.88 million, Namaste Nepal Transport Company incurred losses of Rs 28.5 million, and Gorkha Daraudi Transport Service Company suffered damages worth Rs 6 million, as informed by the Federation’s President Vijay Bahadur Swar.

Similarly, Bagmati Tipper Entrepreneurs’ Association reported damages of Rs 270 million, Nepal Truck Tipper Entrepreneurs’ Association suffered losses amounting to Rs 200 million, Mahakali Entrepreneurs Multi-purpose Company faced damages worth Rs 66.5 million, and Rasuwagadhi border point incurred losses of NPR 40 million.

The Federation’s General Secretary, Deknath Gautam, stated that a detailed report of the damage to the public transport sector nationwide has been compiled and submitted to the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Department of Transport Management on Wednesday.
