Brake failure causes bus accident in Ramechhap: One dead, 12 injured

KATHMANDU: A passenger bus met with a tragic accident in Bhirpani, Khadadevi Rural Municipality-3, Ramechhap, on Tuesday evening, claiming the life of one passenger.

The bus, bearing the registration number Pradesh 01-005-Kha 9579, was en route from Kathmandu to Amare in Sunkoshi Rural Municipality, Sindhuli, via Manthali.

According to Ramechhap District Police Office, the accident occurred due to brake failure.

Among the victims, a 17-year-old girl, Yunisha Shrestha, from Kharhare Khola, Sunkoshi Rural Municipality-6, Sindhuli, lost her life.

She succumbed to her injuries while being transported to Sindhuli for treatment.

Additionally, 12 other passengers were injured in the incident, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Pradip Kumar Singh of the Ramechhap District Police Office.

Most of the injured have been taken to Sindhuli District Hospital for treatment.

The bus had a total of 35 passengers on board, and authorities have taken the driver into custody for further investigation.
