Death of Polish national during himalayan trekking expedition
According to Rasuwa District Police Chief Keshav Bhattarai, Agnieszka, holding Polish passport number ‘FE 3051811,’ died in the Suryakund area.
KATHMANDU: A 23-year-old Polish woman, Sowinka Agnieszka, tragically passed away last night near Suryakunda, located at the border of Rasuwa and Nuwakot districts during a Himalayan trekking expedition.
According to Rasuwa District Police Chief Keshav Bhattarai, Agnieszka, holding Polish passport number ‘FE 3051811,’ died in the Suryakund area.
With assistance from the Shreenath Battalion of the Nepal Army and local Nepal Police, her body was brought to Gosainkunda and flown to Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital in Maharajgunj, Kathmandu this morning via helicopter.
Vivek Adhikari, flight manager of Air Dynasty, stated that the body was transported to Kathmandu at the request of Real Himalaya Trekking Office, in coordination with local security personnel.
Further investigation is underway, with Police Chief Bhattarai noting that the cause of death, whether due to altitude sickness or other reasons, will be determined after the autopsy report.
