Ministers visit flood & landslide affected areas
Their visit aims to assess the ongoing relief and reconstruction efforts in these areas.
KATHMANDU: A team of ministers, including Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak, Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Devendra Dahal, and Defense Minister Manbir Rai, has set out to inspect the flood-affected regions of Kavrepalanchowk, Sindhuli, Lalitpur, and Sindhupalchowk.
Their visit aims to assess the ongoing relief and reconstruction efforts in these areas.
The ministers are expected to visit Mangalatar in Kavre, Khurkot in Sindhuli, Chautara in Sindhupalchowk, and Gotikhola in Lalitpur.
During their visit, they will discuss the damage caused by landslides and floods, as well as the immediate road infrastructure reconstruction and relief programs currently underway.
Death Toll Rises to 246
In related news, the recent floods and landslides that affected Bagmati State from Sept 27 to 28 have resulted in a tragic death toll of 246, with 18 individuals still reported missing.
Additionally, 178 people have sustained injuries, with 30 receiving treatment in various hospitals, as informed by Home Ministry spokesperson Rishiram Tiwari.
To date, 17,174 people have been rescued from the flood-affected areas.
Efforts to mobilize assistance and repair the blocked highways to restore transportation services are actively underway, according to spokesperson Tiwari.
