Gaindakot’s Regmi receives ‘Best Farmer Award’
Regmi was provided with the award at the 44th World Food Day hosted by the Department of Agriculture under the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development.
KATHMANDU: Devimaya Regmi, a farmer from Gaindakot Municiplaity-18 of Nawalparasi (Bardaghat-Susta-East), has received the national level ‘Best Farmer Award’.
Regmi was provided with the award at the 44th World Food Day hosted by the Department of Agriculture under the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development.
Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development Ramnath Adhikari honoured Regmi as the national-level best farmer towards fruits garden (orange) with cash prize of Rs 10,000 and a letter of appreciation.
October 16 every year has been observed as the World Food Day at the call of United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). But this time the day was celebrated earlier on Monday to avoid overlapping with the Dashain festival, informed Director-General of the Department, Dr Narahari Prasad Ghimire.
Best farmer award recipient Regmi has been cultivating fruits and vegetables in Gaindakot-18, Basemi through lifting irrigation. She had established the ‘Tikaratna Tulkidevi Agriculture farm’ at the investment of Rs 20 million seven years ago.
