Tharu Commission submits report to President
The report, outlining the commission's activities over the past year, was handed over by Chairman Bishnu Prasad Chaudhary.
KATHMANDU: In a formal event held at the President’s Office, Sheetal Niwas, today, the Tharu Commission presented its annual report for the fiscal year 2080/81 to President Ram Chandra Paudel.
The report, outlining the commission’s activities over the past year, was handed over by Chairman Bishnu Prasad Chaudhary.
During the occasion, President Paudel highlighted the importance of culture in preserving individual and community identity.
He remarked, “The Tharu community has historically inhabited the Terai region of Nepal for generations, with its own distinct language, culture, attire, traditions, civilization, and customs.”
President Paudel further emphasized the need to study the Tharu community’s history, language, script, culture, traditions, arts, and literature, acknowledging them as an indigenous ethnic group of Nepal.
