More than 6,000 police personnel mobilized for festival-targeted security plan in Madhesh
Nepal Police's Madhesh State Police Office, Janakpurdham, has prepared a security plan for Dashain, Deepawali (Tihar) and Chhath festivals.
KATHMANDU: In order to make the festival safe, more than six thousand police personnel will be mobilized in Madhesh.
Nepal Police’s Madhesh State Police Office, Janakpurdham, has prepared a security plan for Dashain, Deepawali (Tihar) and Chhath festivals.
Chief of Madhesh Police Office and Deputy Inspector General of Police, Leelamani Acharya, said that security vigilance has been increased to prevent theft, traffic congestion on the roads, crowding in temples, black marketing, gambling and pick pocketing.
Security will also be ensured during the immersion of the goddess idols after the festivals.
Similarly, the Madhes Police has identified in its security plan the areas of security challenges like occurence of skirmishes during fairs and cultural events, theft at government offices and banks, traffic safety, drug trafficking and abuse during the festival.
The plan made by the Madhes Police Office targeting the festival has already started from Oct 1.
Deputy Inspector General of Police Acharya clarified that this plan will continue till Nov 10 targetting the Chhath festival.
According to the Madhesh Police Office, 1,400 policemen have been added in the existing number of security personnel in all the eight districts of the province.
