Korean Red Cross provides Rs 10 million for relief of disaster survivors

KATHMANDU: The Republic of Korea National Red Cross has allocated 100 million Korean Won (KRW), which is equivalent to Rs 10 million, to Nepal to assist the survivors of recent flooding and landslides in the country. The assistance amount has been provided through the Nepal Red Cross Society (NRCS).

It is said the amount will be spent for emergency relief for the affected and for the rehabilitation efforts in the affected areas.

Meanwhile, Foreign Affairs Minister from the Republic of Korea, Cho Tae-yul, on Monday extended a condolence message to Foreign Minister Dr Arzu Rana Deuba over the significant losses caused by recent flooding and landslides.

The Korean Minister said he was shocked by the news about the loss of life and property in the disasters. He, on behalf of the Korean government, extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, and sympathies to those injured in the disasters, according to the Embassy of Korea in Nepal.

The Korean government said it and the people of Korea are ready to extend support as per the capacity to address the needs of disaster survivors.

Nepal and RoK this year organized various events, exchanging high-level greetings on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries.
