Congress draws PM’s attention with Rs 5 million aid to rescue fund

KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress has donated Rs 5 million to the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund.
The party’s president and former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba presented a cheque for this amount to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli during a meeting today.
During the meeting, President Deuba also submitted a 34-point recommendation letter outlining immediate and long-term actions needed in response to natural disasters.
Prime Minister Oli acknowledged the suggestions from the Nepali Congress, emphasizing that disasters affect everyone regardless of caste, age, or religion.
He expressed his belief that the government would lead efforts to address these challenges collectively.
The Nepali Congress urged the government to unite and prepare for future disasters, highlighting the need for cooperation and a spirit of solidarity in facing such challenges.
The meeting was also attended by Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak, Nepali Congress Vice President Purna Bahadur Khadka, and General Secretary Bishwajit Sharma, among others.
