Prakashman Singh Raut sworn in as new Chief Justice

KATHMANDU: Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, Prakashman Singh Raut, has taken the oath of office and secrecy at a ceremony held on Sunday at the Presidential Office, Sheetal Niwas.

President Ram Chandra Paudel administered the oath to the newly appointed Chief Justice.

Earlier today, President Paudel officially appointed Raut as the Chief Justice of Nepal.

The ceremony saw the presence of Vice President Ramsahay Prasad Yadav, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, Speaker Devraj Ghimire, Chair of the National Assembly Narayan Dahal, and other high-ranking officials.

The Constitutional Council had recommended Raut for the position of Chief Justice on Sept 17.

Raut was first appointed as a judge of the Supreme Court on 2 Aug 2022.
