KATHMANDU: The Food Management and Trading Company Limited has started the sale of goats and himalayan goats (Chyangra) from today.
The company has set the price of goats at Rs 670 per kilogram, offering a discount of Rs 10, making the selling price Rs 660 per kilogram.
Similarly, the price of Chyangra has been set at Rs 1,230 per kilogram, with a discount of Rs 10, making the selling price Rs 1,220 per kilogram, according to the company.
The company’s information officer, Sharmila Neupane, stated that 208 goats and 300 Chyangra have already arrived as of Saturday.
The first lot of 208 goats arrived from Hetauda, while the remaining are on the way, she added.
The Chyangra has been brought from Mustang. Every year, the company purchases goats and Chyangra to sell them at reasonable prices during festivals.
This year, the company plans to bring 1,100 goats and 300 Chyangra for the Dashain festival.
Meanwhile, private traders have already begun selling goats from the day of Ghatasthapana.
As there is a high demand for goats during Dashain, traders purchase goats from various districts and bring them to the Kathmandu Valley for sale.
