Weakening monsoon: No immediate forecast for heavy rain

KATHMANDU: The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has reported that the entire country is under the influence of monsoon winds, with a partial effect from a low-pressure system formed in the northern regions of Bangladesh and West Bengal, India.

According to the department, partial cloud cover is currently observed in the hilly regions, including Lumbini and Gandaki, while the rest of the country experiences mostly clear weather.

Light to moderate rainfall has been occurring in some areas of Lumbini and one or two places in the Sudurpashchim State.

This afternoon, the weather is expected to be partly to generally cloudy across the country.

There is a possibility of light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning in some areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini States, as well as one or two locations in other States.

Tonight, the hilly areas are expected to remain partly to generally cloudy, while the remaining regions will experience mostly clear weather.

The department has also indicated that there is a likelihood of light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning in some areas of Koshi and Gandaki States, along with one or two places in other States.

The department forecasts light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning in some areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini States, as well as one or two places in the remaining States over the next 24 hours.

Meteorologist Saroj Pudasaini mentioned that the monsoon is gradually weakening.
