KATHMANDU: The work to repair the Maikhola-Bhanjang section of the Mechi highway has been stopped after another landslide occurred.

The road section was damaged by a landslide few days ago.

The ongoing restoration work has been stopped since Saturday evening due to the risk of more damage following a landslide.

The Divisional Road Office has said that the maintenance work has been suspended due to continuous landslides.

With this road section remain blocked for traffic, travelers are forced to make alternative arrangements for going to Jhapa, Ilam, Panchthar and Taplejung.

Meanwhile, efforts are being made to develop the Godak-Jogmai Khola-Tilkeki road as an alternative to this road section of the Mechi highway.
