Asmita charged with murder of two daughters remanded in custody

KATHMANDU: A 21-year-old woman, Asmita Paudel (Karki) from Sundarharaicha Municipality-7 in Morang district, has been charged with the serious crime of murdering her two young daughters.

The District Court of Morang has ordered her to be remanded in custody pending trial.

Judge Parasmani Pokhrel’s bench ruled that Paudel should be temporarily detained. She is accused of poisoning her two young daughters to death, a tragic incident that took place in Sundarharaicha, Morang, some time ago.

During the police investigation, it was determined that Asmita had poisoned her daughters, leading to her arrest on Bhadra 19 (Sept 4) from Birtamode, Jhapa district.

Based on the preliminary investigation, a charge sheet has been filed, alleging that Asmita intentionally took the lives of her children.
