Prabhu Mahalaxmi Life Insurance honors Chanik Lal Tamang
As part of the recognition, Mr. Tamang received a life insurance policy with a sum assured of Rs 3 million, along with a cash reward of Rs 11,000.
KATHMANDU: With the incessant rains beginning on Sept 28, the Nakkhu River in Lalitpur witnessed severe flooding on Sept 29.
Among those swept away by the flood, two individuals were successfully rescued by 37-year-old Mr. Chanik Lal Tamang, originally from Chhopatar in Kavre District, who is currently residing temporarily in Lalitpur Metropolitan City, Ward No. 25. In recognition of his bravery, Prabhu Mahalaxmi Life Insurance Limited honored Mr. Tamang.
The commendation took place on Oct 2, Wednesday, during an event at the company’s headquarters. The Chief Executive Officer of Prabhu Mahalaxmi Life Insurance, Mr. Santosh Prasai, conferred the honor, describing Mr. Tamang as a “real hero.” He emphasized that the act of saving another person’s life cannot be compared to any monetary value.

During the event, Mr. Chanik Lal Tamang recounted his experience of witnessing someone’s life in danger and how he couldn’t remain indifferent. He successfully saved two individuals from the raging floodwaters.
Mr. Tamang expressed that such honors inspire courage and help foster humanity among individuals.
He also mentioned that mutual cooperation and goodwill can significantly mitigate the impacts of current natural disasters.
