KATHMANDU: A search operation has been resumed after clearing the landslide debris near Jhyaple Khola, close to the border of Dhading and Kathmandu. So far, 35 bodies have been recovered from three vehicles, with concerns that more vehicles may be buried under the landslide.

Authorities have been clearing the debris along the roadside and below the road to ensure no additional vehicles are trapped.

The landslide, which originated from nearly 200 meters up the slope, created a large pile of debris along the edge of the road and down below.

Two microbuses and one large bus were found buried, and there are suspicions that a car may also be trapped. According to Superintendent of Police Dipendra Shahi from the District Police Office, further search operations were conducted after removing the debris, but no additional vehicles were found.

A dozer from a road construction project was used to clear the debris early in the morning, and two-way traffic has now been restored in the Jhayaple Khola area.

Due to heavy traffic, vehicles entering and exiting Kathmandu are being managed alternately to avoid congestion in high-risk areas.

The landslide, triggered by continuous rainfall, had struck Jhyaple Khola on Friday night.
