KATHMANDU: In the English Premier League (EPL) match held on Monday night, Bournemouth defeated Southampton 3-1.

Southampton has failed to secure a win even after six games.

Both Wolverhampton and Southampton are tied at the bottom of the table.

This marks the first time since 1998 that a newly promoted team has made such a poor start in the Premier League.

Brazilian striker Evanilson opened the scoring, giving Bournemouth an early lead.

In the 32nd minute, Dango Ouattara added a second goal, followed by Ghanaian international Antoine Semenyo, who scored just five minutes later.

Bournemouth entered halftime with a commanding 3-0 lead.

Bournemouth’s assistant coach, Tommy Elphick, expressed his satisfaction, saying, “We expected a performance like this from Evanilson, so I’m happy for him.”

With this win, Bournemouth has climbed to 11th place. Meanwhile, Southampton’s head coach, Russell Martin, commented, “I didn’t recognize my team out there. There was no aggression, and I didn’t like that one bit.”
