KATHMANDU: With the help of Cristiano Ronaldo’s goal, Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr defeated Qatar’s Al-Rayyan 2-1 on Monday in the AFC Champions League group stage.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner, Ronaldo, had played to a 1-1 draw against Iraq’s Al-Shorta two weeks ago.

On Monday, he scored twice, though one of the goals was ruled offside.

However, with 14 minutes remaining in the match in Riyadh, his strike proved to be decisive.

Former Liverpool forward Sadio Mané had given Al-Nassr an early lead in first-half injury time.

When Ronaldo added a second goal, Al-Nassr’s three points seemed secure.

With just three minutes left, Roger Guedes scored to try and bring Al-Rayyan back into the game, but it was not enough.
