KATHMANDU: The Shah family has pledged Rs. 4 crores to support the construction of the Pediatric Surgery Intensive Care Unit (PSICU) and Day Care Surgery Floor at the Kathmandu Institute of Child Health (KIOCH).
This significant contribution will greatly enhance children’s healthcare in Nepal by providing critical care for young patients undergoing major surgeries.
The PSICU and Day Care Surgery Floor will be named the RUSLAN PSICU in honor of the Shah family’s generous support.
On 29th September 2024, the Shah family made an initial personal donation of Rs. 1 crore to KIOCH, showing their strong commitment to the cause.
While the donation is facilitated through their non-profit organization, JGI Nepal Foundation (JGINF), it is important to note that this contribution is entirely from family members’ personal funds.
The remaining Rs. 3 crores will also be disbursed from their personal finances as the project progresses, with JGINF assisting in its facilitation.
The donation is entirely from Mr. Vijay Kumar Shah’s personal, tax-paid funds, independent of any company or CSR budgets. Notably, Mr. Vijay Kumar Shah has been recognized three times as a top-taxpayers, further underscoring his dedication to both philanthropy and civic responsibility.

This donation adds to the Shah family’s legacy of philanthropy and highlights their unwavering dedication to the welfare of the Nepali people.
