Lawsuit filed against Durga Prasai in court

KATHMANDU: A lawsuit has been filed against medical practitioner Durga Prasai in the District Court of Kathmandu.
The Kathmandu District Government Attorney’s Office submitted the case against Prasai on Monday.
According to Santosh Raj Katwal, an attorney from the Kathmandu District Government Attorney’s Office, two cases related to cyber offenses have been filed against Prasai in the District Court of Kathmandu.
Prasai was arrested by the police from his residence in Bhaktapur on Sept 22.
Attorney Katwal stated that under the Electronic Transactions Act of 2006, if the offenses are confirmed, Prasai could face up to five years in prison, a fine of up to 100,000 Nepalese Rupees, or both.
Along with Prasai, the court has issued arrest warrants for individuals Jivan Pandey and Prakash Chandra Dahal, who remain at large.
Prasai is accused of “character assassination” of women on the YouTube channel ‘Desh Duniya Khabar.’
