KATHMANDU: A disruption occurred during the ongoing conference of the All Nepal National Free Students Union (Revolutionary), affiliated with the CPN (Maoist Centre), in Kirtipur, Kathmandu.

The disturbance took place on Monday during the ANNFSU’s 23rd national conference over the issue of age limits.

Today, youths pushed and shoved, even throwing chairs during the chaos.

The dispute arose as there was no consensus on whether to set the age limit at 28, 30, or 32 years. While preparations were being made to resolve the matter through elections, tensions escalated.

Despite the CPN (Maoist Centre) leadership’s decision to hold a vote on the age limit without interfering in the leadership selection process, party members caused a ruckus at the conference venue. In response to the unrest, police used mild force to control the situation.

The 23rd national conference of the All Nepal National Free Students Union (Revolutionary) has been ongoing at Tribhuvan University in Kirtipur since Sept 26.
