KATHMANDU: Advance ticket bookings for Dashain have seen a decrease this year.

Advance bookings were opened targeting those planning to travel home from various parts of the country to Kathmandu for the Dashain festival.

Many of them are students, traders, and employees who come to the capital for study, business, or employment. However, this year’s bookings have declined due to issues like floods and landslides.

The government opened advance ticket bookings five days before Ghatasthapana, leading passengers to queue at New Bus Park early in the morning to secure their tickets.

In particular, high demand was observed for destinations such as Darchula, Dadeldhura, Dhangadhi, Tikapur, Bajhang, Bajura, Salyan, Rukum, Pyuthan, Rolpa, Taplejung, Ilam, Kakarbhitta, and Udayapur.

However, unlike in previous years, large crowds were not seen this time. It is believed that the ongoing heavy rainfall, which began on Friday across the country including the federal capital, has affected the advance booking process.
