KATHMANDU: A microbus accident in Nuwakot’s Shivapuri Rural Municipality-7, along the Chhahare-Tokha road section, left 12 passengers injured on Monday.

Among the injured, two are in critical condition, according to Chief of the District Police Office, Shantiraj Koirala.

The microbus, traveling from Kathmandu to Pokhara via Nuwakot, lost control at Aduwarimod around 1 PM and plunged approximately 50 meters off the road.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Tilak Bharati, who was at the scene, confirmed the incident.

Of the 18 passengers onboard, 12, including the two critically injured, were sent to Kathmandu for treatment.

The microbus, with license plate number Ga 1 Kha 4535, was operated by the Prithvi Highway Company Pvt. Ltd.

The vehicle was rerouted through Nuwakot due to landslides in several areas of Dhading. It was en route from Tokha in Kathmandu to Pokhara, via Galchi in Dhading.

Police reported that despite the steep cliffs at the accident site, a large damage was avoided as the vehicle got caught in a mulberry tree.
