Bodies of three ANFA Academy students brought to Hetauda

KATHMANDU: In a devastating landslide in Sisdinari, Indrasarovar Municipality, Makwanpur, the bodies of three students from the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) Academy have been recovered and brought to Hetauda.

The deceased, identified as Anup Ghalaan, Simon Yonjhan, and Bikhal Regmi from Bara, were airlifted to Hetauda following an autopsy at a teaching hospital in Kathmandu, as confirmed by Tirtharaj Chiluwal, the Chief District Officer of Makwanpur.

A memorial service was held by the District Sports Development Committee in Hetauda, attended by family members of the deceased, athletes, sports enthusiasts, and local residents.

CDO Chiluwal stated that the bodies have been handed over to their families for the last rites.

Among the 40 students residing in a hostel and studying at Batsala Secondary School in Tekar, Indrasarovar Municipality-3, the victims included Ghalan and Yonjan from Hetauda, and Regmi from Nijgadh in Bara.

They were part of a group receiving football training at the ANFA camp and tragically lost their lives due to the landslide on Saturday.

Death Toll from Floods and Landslides Rises to 116 in Bagmati State

The torrential rains on October 11 and 12 have caused floods and landslides across 10 districts in Bagmati State, resulting in a death toll of 116.

According to the Bagmati State Police Office in Hetauda, an additional 12 bodies have been recovered in Kavre district.

The total fatalities include 50 in Kavre, 39 in Dhading, and others in Sindhupalchowk (10), Makwanpur (7), Dolakha (7), Sindhuli (2), and one in Ramechhap.

The police reported that a search is ongoing for 11 missing persons: nine in Kavre and two in Sindhupalchok.

In total, 4,119 police personnel have been deployed across the province for search and rescue operations.

The police also reported that they have rescued 317 individuals from 247 families and relocated them to safer areas.
