Mahalaxmi Bikas Bank honors Chanikalal Tamang for heroic flood rescue in Lalitpur
Tamang successfully saved two individuals who were swept away by the flood that occurred in Nakkhu Khola, Lalitpur Metropolitan City, Ward No. 13.
KATHMANDU: Mahalaxmi Bikas Bank has honored 33-year-old Chanikalal Tamang, a resident of Ward No. 9, Temal Rural Municipality, Kavre District, for his heroic rescue efforts.
Tamang successfully saved two individuals who were swept away by the flood that occurred in Nakkhu Khola, Lalitpur Metropolitan City, Ward No. 13, on Ashwin 12 (September 28), following continuous rainfall since Ashwin 11 (Sept 27).
During a special program held at the bank’s central office on Ashwin 13 (Sept 29), Tamang was recognized for his courage, determination, and prompt action that led to the successful rescue of Raju Shah and a member of his family.
In acknowledgment of his bravery, the bank presented Tamang with a cash prize of Rs 100,000.
The bank expressed its belief that such actions would inspire more citizens to safely participate in rescue operations during disasters.
It also extended heartfelt condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the recent floods and landslides across the country, while wishing for the speedy recovery of the injured.
