KATHMANDU: Cole Palmer’s four-goal heroics helped Chelsea close the gap to just one point behind the defending Premier League champions.

In Saturday’s match at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea defeated Brighton 4-2. With the win, Chelsea now has 13 points from six matches, just one point less than top-of-the-table Manchester City.

Brighton, with nine points from the same number of matches, sits in eighth place. Brighton took an early lead through Evan Ferguson, who scored in the seventh minute.

However, Chelsea bounced back in the 14th minute, sparked by Palmer’s brilliance.

Palmer completed a hat-trick with goals in the 21st, 28th, and 31st minutes. Carlos Baleba brought Brighton back into contention, making it 3-2 with a goal in the 34th minute.

But Palmer sealed the win for Chelsea by scoring his fourth goal in the 41st minute, securing a comfortable 4-2 victory for the Blues.
