KATHMANDU: There will be rain in several parts of the country today, with some areas experiencing rainfall since morning.

This morning, the weather across the country is partially to generally cloudy. Light to moderate rain, accompanied by thunder and lightning, is occurring in several places in the Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini States, as well as in one or two places in the Sudurpashchim State.

According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, the weather will remain generally cloudy throughout the day. There is a possibility of light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning in some places across all States.

Heavy rain is also expected in one or two locations in the Koshi, Bagmati, Lumbini, and Sudurpashchim States.

There is a possibility of strong winds in the Terai regions of the Koshi and Madhesh States.

The department stated that the weather will remain partially to generally cloudy at night. There is a possibility of light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning in some places in the Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki States, as well as in a few places in the remaining provinces.

Heavy rain is also possible in one or two locations in the Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Sudurpashchim States, with the risk of strong winds in the Terai and Madhesh States.

Due to the possibility of heavy rain, the department urges vigilance against potential disasters such as flash floods, landslides, and soil erosion in these areas.

With the potential impact on daily life, agriculture, health, tourism, mountaineering, and road and air transportation, the department has advised the public to take necessary precautions.

The monsoon trough is positioned south of the average location, and the influence of monsoonal winds is being felt across the country.

The department has also indicated partial effects from a low-pressure system developed over the Bay of Bengal.
