KATHMANDU: Ramkrishna Bhattarai, the proposed ambassador to Sri Lanka, withdrew his candidacy on Tuesday.

Parliamentary Hearing Committee Chairperson Ishwari Neupane confirmed his withdrawal.

The committee had requested Bhattarai’s bachelor’s degree certificate, which he did not provide, leading to his decision to step down from the ambassadorial nomination.

Due to the lack of the certificate, his name had not been approved.

Neupane mentioned that the committee would hold a meeting to approve his withdrawal request. Out of 17 individuals reviewed by the committee, 16 have already been approved.

On July 29, the cabinet meeting had recommended the appointment of ambassadors to 18 different countries.
