SC issues show-cause order on Durga Prasai’s writ

KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court has issued a show-cause order in response to a writ filed on behalf of medical practitioner Durga Prasain.

Durga Prasain’s son, Nirajan Prasain, filed a habeas corpus writ on Monday, claiming that his mother had been unlawfully detained.

On Tuesday, a single bench of Justice Prakashman Singh Raut conducted a preliminary hearing of the writ and issued a show-cause order against the respondent.

Durga Prasain was arrested by the police last Sunday from her residence in Bhaktapur.

He was detained under the Electronic Transactions Act due to a complaint filed against her with the Cyber Bureau.
