Monsoon trough brings rain & thunderstorms across Nepal; heavy rainfall expected in several States

KATHMANDU: The monsoon trough is currently located south of its average position, with monsoon winds affecting the entire country.

At present, the hilly regions of the country are experiencing partial to moderate cloud cover, while the rest of the regions have partial clouds to mainly clear skies.

Light rainfall is occurring in a few areas of Koshi, Bagmati, and Karnali States.

Afternoon Forecast:

• The weather is expected to remain partly to generally cloudy throughout the country.
• There is a chance of light to moderate rain, along with thunder and lightning, in some places in Koshi, Gandaki, and Lumbini States, and at a few locations in the rest of the States.
• There is also a possibility of heavy rainfall in one or two places in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini States.

Night Forecast:

• The country will experience partly to mostly cloudy skies at night.
• Light to moderate rain, with thunder and lightning, is expected in some places in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Sudurpaschim provinces, and in a few places across other States.
• Heavy rainfall is likely in one or two places in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim States, with the possibility of very heavy rainfall in one or two locations in Sudurpaschim State.
