KATHMANDU: The Nepal Tourism Board has officially launched an initiative aimed at preparing the next generation of Nepalese tourism professionals for the modern landscape of the industry.

Today, 65 students from Shubhashree College of Management’s Bachelor of Hotel Management program participated in the inaugural session of the monthly series titled “Empowering Future Tourism Leaders: Sharing Knowledge & Growth,” held at the Nepal Tourism Board auditorium.

Mr. Deepak Raj Joshi, CEO, Nepal Tourism Board, emphasized the significance of this initiative, stating, “This is a vital step toward promoting the future of our tourism industry. We look forward to the support of our community and industry leaders in this endeavor.”

Senior Director Hikmat Singh Ayer encouraged students to adopt an entrepreneurial mindset rather than simply seeking traditional job roles. Additionally, Senior Manager Bimal Kandel presented on Nepal’s unique tourist heritage, highlighting the country’s diverse offerings. Manita Oli, Principal of Shubhashree College, stressed the importance of continuous learning and expressed gratitude for the opportunities this program provides.

The Board aims for this initiative to bridge the gap between industry expertise and emerging talent, fostering an environment of learning, collaboration, and innovation. Participants will engage with experienced professionals, educators, and peers to discuss current trends in tourism and explore future opportunities, inspiring one another through shared experiences.

Other colleges and educational institutions interested in participating are encouraged to contact the Tourism Capacity Development (HRD) Unit of the Tourism Heritage and Resource Development Division.

“This initiative is not just about knowledge transfer; it is a campaign to cultivate young leaders who will shape the future of our tourism industry,” Mr. Joshi added. The program was conducted by Rikhimaya Rai, an officer of the Board, and coordinated by Sudhan Subedi, a senior officer.

The Nepal Tourism Board is committed to promoting sustainable tourism and enhancing the country’s reputation as a premier travel destination. Through innovative programs and partnerships, the Board aims to ensure the long-term growth and vitality of the tourism industry.
